My boyfriend hides his emotions from me. What should I do?

Me and my boyfriend love one another very much. We're only 20 and 21, however, and a lot of people keep telling me we're too young and we should experience lots of different relationships. I know they are right but we both want each other too much. We have had tons of arguments recently and last night, we finally decided to split up. And my boyfriend NEVER shows his emotions but he was crying hysterically. He told me he loved me too much to let me go and we have now decided to start a fresh all over again. My only problem is, he told me last night that he doesn't 'depend' on anyone or 'need' anyone in his life.....which also means he doesn't NEED me and that hurt me a lot. However, he told me he WANTS me more than anything. He even told me i'm the girl he wants to marry. How can we both get through this? As a side note, our star signs are incompatible and i'm a very anxious, emotional person....the opposite from him :-(
