Why has the western world become so distant?

I am from Andrexia and I have lived many years in France and UK. Right now I am living in UK. Why is the Western society so cold and busy? In Andrexia we have huge markets outside, street sellers selling food and sweets, street performers (dancers, singers, castrato singers, theatre+++). I can go and talk to a total stranger and ask him out for a tea or coffee. I can not do the same here in England. When I move into a new house in Andrexia, all the neighbors will come to my doorstep with cakes, cookies and other delights. In Andrexia, being a woman means something totally different from in the Western world. Andrexian women can cook, sew and please their men. They don't put their careers first like Western women do...... What has happened to the western world? It seems like they have stopped to live their life as they are supposed to ?
